Is there anyway to clean the inside of the dc power jack on a hp laptop? My 4 yr old got something sticky in it and my laptop is not liking to charge now.

Hmm, if it was something with crumbs, dust, dirt, or something similar I would say sure, but something sticky? That is a little tougher.

You would need to try and find a way to harden it all first, which would make it easier to remove. While it is still sticky, you risk breaking something in there which you don't want to do.

A little rubbing alcohol (just be careful how you use it, really careful) on a q-tip might help to dry it up and get it to a state where it is easier to remove.

Thanks for the reply. I inserted the power adapter after i had posted this and when i had released it from the dc port the plastic coating around the copper pin came along with it. It's charging now, but I have to have the dc port replaced now.
