I have to LG 3D Smart TVs. They are basically the exact same TV except one is a 2013 LG 55G2. The other is a 2014 50GA. A week ago I woke up and all 4 HDMI ports on teh 55G2 stopped working. I tried everything but nothing worked. On the 50GA the HDMI port 1 has stopped working (it reognizes something is plugged in but does not work). The only thing plugged into each TV was a cable box from Comcast. I know Comcast will not do anything to fix the issue, but when I explained it to them they told me that it would not be possible because HDMI cables do not carry electricity and could not effect the ports or motherboard. I know I am going to have to pay to get these TVs fixed, but the irony of both of them going out on the same day is eating at me. I have tried everything imaginable: reset TVs, new HDMI cords, unplugging an plugging everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, if I have to replace the motherboards, is something I can do myself or do I need a TV repairman?

Solution
HDMI cables do carry 5v DC but not a lot of current.
I have seen your problem happen before once. I think that a high voltage transient came through the cable system and damaged the HDMI input of a couple of TVs. Like you say you won't get Comcast to take responsibility.
