My ASUS laptop was working just fine all day and out of nowhere just turned itself off. When I tried to reboot it, only the backlight, power button light, and fans turned on. The screen just stayed off. There are noises that sound like it's trying to boot up but to no avail. What should I do???

Update: Now the ASUS logo will pop up on the screen in the very beginning then go to black screen and not turn on.

Solution
Check the power button or caps lock for flashing, some laptops display error codes like that.
If there is none, try entering BIOS. If you can normally enter BIOS I'd say your hard drive failed since a laptop without a hard drive in it just shows a black screen. (after displaying the logo)
You can also try booting a windows installation, or any Linux from a usb to see if they work. If they do, I'd bet on hard drive failure.

Are there any clicking noises coming from the computer?
