I am builidng a small seaside hotel (36-rooms) and it will have a 50 seater restaurant with some outside seating 6 tables. Next to it is a bar which will cater for guests The swimming pool is adjacent to the bar and the outside seating. I have a separate area as the lobby/reception.

What is the best way to provide music without making it look like being in the 1970's.

Havent a great budget, but willing to hear of ideas/products (wireless or wired) that I should consider.

Anyone who can help?

Solution
There is no wireless solution that would cover a wide area with a reasonable number of speakers without hot spots.
I would suggest you use Sonance CT10 in ceiling speakers. They give you wide even coverage and are unobtrusive.

You can power them in different way depending on how you want to zone the rest (bar area, deck area, party room). Use Sonos Connects or ConnectAmps as your sources. Controlled by their free app over WIFI. You can do up to 32 zones so it can be expanded.
For legal music Soundmachine is excellent. Lets you make prerecorded announcements at preset times and offers legal playlists. $30 a month.
A professional installer would be able to set you up with the right speakers and...

How about a bunch of in-ceiling speakers. They are definitely nice sounding and inconspicuous. You will definitely need to use the appropriate amplifiers to match the impedance of multiple speakers.

With several speakers placed around the place, the music should seem to emanate from nowhere and it would be unobtrusive to conversation.

Thanks. Noted. I understand the implications on the public use of music, but was more interested in knowing if there were any good ideas (suggestions) for speaker setup.

Thanks - someone suggested 'Bosch' speakers, ceiling mounted (wired) to be a part of the soilution. I was thinking that there are wireless setups these days that allow you to do something similar, but also have flexibilty of relocation of speakers in the future. What do you think?

A professional installer would be able to set you up with the right speakers and power for each area. Worth paying a pro to get it right.

Thanks very much. I have had prices of around $15k quoted to put in a system comprising of 4 (6WRMS) ceiling speakers, 9 (15 Wrms) cabinet speakers and 3 pre-amps to cover the 3 areas (bar/restaurant/reception).. wired up. Does this make sense..?

I think your point about getting a 'pro' to do it seems to be the most sensible thing to do, but still not sure whether this is a suitable configuration.

Thanks Very Much. Having been in a place of confusion, I have got a bit of direction here, so have located a specialist firm who was introduced to me. Will take up the points made here as well as the guidance to have an expert look at the requirements. see www.sooriya.com for a preview of my hotel.
