I have the WD My passport external hard disk 500GB

Accidentally, it dropped off my desktop computer while on use and after I plugged it in back to the same or another USB port there seems to have no data. I can see the folders but they seem to be empty.
Please, can you help me?

That is really unpleasant.

Hard drives are really vulnerable to shocks/hits. It is possible that the drive has sustained some physical damage.
In case the data stored on the drive is really important, my suggestion would be to contact a data recovery company. You can check WD's Data Recovery Partners out: http

If you don't want to go with that option, I believe you can scan the drive with some data recovery tool and see whether you will be able to recover the data.
After that, you can test the drive with WD's DLG tool(both short & extended tests) and see whether there is something wrong with it: http

I will try to contact a data recovery company. All I wanted to know was if there was hope that I could retrive my data.
