Hello everyone!

I am having problems with my home sound system. It consists of:

2x Pioneer S-Z370 Speakers
2x Eltax Jupiter 5 Speakers
Pioneer A-Z370 Amplifier
Pioneer GR-Z370 Equalizer
Pioneer F-Z570L Tuner (AM/FM radio)
Pioneer PD-Z970M 6-disc CD player

Everything works just fine except that the CD player doesn't play any sound. It recognizes and plays the CD's (starts counting and allows skipping to next track etc.) however no sound is coming through the speakers even though the volume is turned up and it's on the correct input setting. Any idea what might be wrong here?

Thanks in advance for any help

Solution
You need to determine if it is the INPUT to the amp or the output from CD player. Have you tried another input on the amp? What about using the optical output from the CD player?

Well the radio works fine and so does the 3.5mm to RCA cable that I have plugged into one of the inputs (VCR or LD, can't remember right now). Could it be that the cable connector (male and/or female parts of the cable connecting the CD player to the amp) needs cleaning with IPA (rubbing alcohol) and some sort of small brush to remove any possible oxidation on the pins? Or is it more likely an internal issue? Like I said, it starts playing a CD so the laser seems to work just fine. As for the optical output, I'll have to get a cable for that before I can try that out

Okay I sorted the problem! Thanks kanewolf for your suggestion of using an optical cable between the CD player "digital out" and amp's "CD digital in", this got it working again!
