Im planning to connect my tv to my pc by using VGA-HDMI cable. I also have a intex 5.1 home theatre. Does it work if i connect it to the cpu or do i need to connect it to the tv? If connected to cpu, does it work or do i need any audio connection from cpu to the tv?

Solution
You can't just use a VGA to HDMI cable, you need a converter to mix the VGA and audio out signals from the computer to the HDMI cable. If your home theater system has HDMI inputs and outputs, you would need to connect the computer to that, and the HT to the TV.

Without makes and model numbers of the TV and HTiB we can't give you a specific answer.
You could use the VGA to HDMI converter to the TV and use the audio out of the PC to the 5.1 system. That won't get you audio from any other source connected to the TV.
You could use a VGA + audio to HDMI converter to connect the PC to the TV and connect the TV audio out to the 5.1 system. That would give you audio from all the sources connected to the TV not just the PC.
