I also have a dlp 65" Mitsubishi. I had my bulb changed about 3 yrs ago cause I began getting dots on my screen and the longer I waited the more dots would pop up. I've never had any other problems with that as the tech guy told me I wouldn't. Just the other night though, I noticed my screen started to go dim. Thinking it was just me, until it reached the point to where I can now barely see anything. I don't wanna buy a bulb since I'm seeing a lot of reviews on them melting and take a chance of my home burning down. Nor do I wanna buy another tv. Do you think a cleaning kit would do the trick? Or should I just buy another tv?

Solution
Dots on your TV is not the bulb it is caused by failure in the DLP panels. The panels are made up of tiny mirrors on flaps. When one fails you get a fixed pixel. You can probably find a thread on this forum about this.
It could be the lamp or the circuit that drives the lamp. A cheap aftermarket lamp might well be prone to problems so if you decide to take a shot with a replacement lamp get the exact same one.

I don't think cleaning the screen will solve your problem. Try these guys.
