macbook pro cleaning tips

i want to clean the inside of my macbook pro, I am going to get a can of compressed air to blow out any dust that some how made its way inside. but before i do that is there anything i should be aware of?

but i don't have a warranty on it. is there anything else i should be aware about?
 
Not a whole lot of stuff you can mess up inside a Macbook, most of the space is taken by the battery, at the same time, watch out for tiny ribbon cables, you break a pin, will be a PITA to try to repair it. While you are in there, may as well re-paste and give it a new fan. How old is this puppy?

You say it is 5 years old so it should have the removable bottom cover. Removing the bottom cover is easy to do and is the only way to properly clean a MacBook. Once removed, you will see 1 or 2 fans. Those are very easy to remove and clean. Dust and dirt can form a mat that is not easily removed by just blowing air in the fan area.
