Whenever I do an event to 'call' on the default beep sound in Windows 10, the sound never initiates, and I could only hear it if I manually go to sounds and click on the Test button or go to volume mixer; I have already tried setting Windows sound scheme to default, and sfc /scannow (all that came up was that CBS.log was corrupted), both did not work. Thank you for viewing!

Update: Now I cannot hear another system sound :( (I could still hear other apps but I can't hear the 2 UI sounds)

Note: I posted this in the Windows 10 section, but I am assuming I posted it in the wrong area, because nobody was replying.

Hi Ihavenousername:) and love your puppies.

Have you read this tutorial at W10 forum? http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5838-sounds-change-windows-10-a.html

sfc /scannow will create a log file and will repair any corrupted files if it can. The report also indicates if it found any and if it managed to repair them. If it can't and the corruption continues, then it is best to attempt a system repair. You can search for the CBS.log file and delete it, then run the scan again.

Hello there,
MeanMachine41

Thank you, but it is just a Graphical Interchange Format (.GIF) I found on Google images (wish they were my puppies, though!)

Anyway, I tried sfc /scannow again when deleting the CBS.log file, and it did not find any corrupted files; I even attempted to use sfc /scannow in Safe mode (minimal boot), then it said that the System File Verification service could not be completed (the process stops mid-way at a random percentage and never completely follows through). How could I perform a system repair?

Thank you for trying to assist me,

Sorry M8 I realized I had not included the link to the W10 Forum. Read this first.

You can do a system restore or repair your windows files. The link I provided is best looked at first.

Hello,
It is okay, and I do not know how to perform a system restore or how to repair windows' files other than sfc /scannow; I looked at the link, but it did not provide me with much help. Thank you!

Sorry I could not help with your sound issue Ihavenousername.

FYI: You can do a system restore by accessing restore options however if your system is running OK then this is not required.

Go to your Control Panel> Security and Maintenance> Here you have a trouble shooting and recovery section. Click on recovery>Open system restore and choose your restore point.

Hello,
It is alright, I will contact Microsoft about it; I could not perform a system restore due to limited SSD space, so I have it turned off, I will mark your first reply as the answer in case anybody that has this issue comes across this thread, thank you for your help, anyway!
