I have a broken connector on the main board of my laptop
it's the connector that goes from the main board to the on/off switch,
right now the only way I can get the laptop to start up (since the HDD isn't attached it goes right to the bios screen) is to run a screw driver across the connectors pins),
my question is is there some way to disable the hard shut down and sleep mode when the on/off switch is held down bc if there was I could just short the pins on the connector and then the laptop would simply go on when the battery is inserted in it and that would be a lot cheaper and easier to do than any other solution to this problem (I don't know anyone who can micro solder a new connector onto the main board and if I could find somebody to do it it probably would cost a lot more than I want to spend (it's an old laptop).
