macbook vs laptop for video editing and color grading in davinci resolve ?

I'll be buying a new system within this month.
I am thinking of buying a 12" macbook , because of its weight and portability.
i want to know will i see a major improvement over my current laptop.(very laggy real time playback in resolve )
HP Pavillion 15 p077tx
intel i5 4210u , 8 gigs of ram , and 2 gb nvidia 840m ., windows 10

or should i just stick with my laptop and just upgrade my hdd to a samsung evo 850 - 500GB.
can the lag in real time playback maybe because of my 1tb 5400 rpm hdd??

Personally I wouldn't consider a 12" MacBook or any other computer brand for that matter for video editing. I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro with a 15" screen and would never consider going any smaller because it would limit my workspace. An SSD would help as a 5400 RPM HDD is not ideal for video editing. I would take a look and see what else is running during playback to see what else is using RAM or the CPU to determine if there is something hogging resources. Another option, if you don't have a second drive bay, is to remove the optical drive and replace it with an HDD or SSD and use the second drive as a scratch disk. Having the program on one drive and the source files on another may help with the lagging during playback. Depending on the types of videos you are working with a RAM upgrade, if feasible, may also help.
