I would like to download a .exe file from Google Drive. It is a game file from a game developer on Steam. The file is over Google's scan limit. What can I do to scan for a virus before downloading it to make sure this file is safe?

Google runs virus scans on all files that get uploaded, any file you get off google drive should be virus free as google has already scanned it. Google is probably much more paranoid about a virus getting out in one of their data centers (where all google drive files exist) than you are about getting a virus on your home computer.

If your still paranoid: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/30508/make-sure-downloads-are-safe-before-downloading-them/

This is from the link you posted "Only files smaller than 25 MB can be scanned for viruses. For larger files, a warning is displayed saying that the file can't be scanned." Not sure if that is both upload and download though.

I tried using that site to scan it but it was too large for that too.

I did download the file than ran Windows Defender just for that file and it came back ok. Should be good.

Yeah sorry I didn't really read through it. Yes you should be fine like I said google has already scanned that file for viruses, if there was one in that file and google didn't catch I think its safe to say windows defender wouldn't either.
