My Sister's old dead Laptop (BSOD, Performance issue & ressurection)

Hi, my sister's old laptop Toshiba (Can't remember what model but she bought it in 2012) has a problem where it will heat up quickly, has a long period of time to turn it on and bypass the boot-up sequence, and will never get into windows as it pops up a BSOD everytime i turned it on after the boot-up sequence.It has history before all that happens where my sister would complained that everytime she would use the web browser or do schoolwork it would turn off unexpectedly on a random occasion, overheating quickly.Thus, the problem just gotten worse from there to the point the problem ended up resulting the 1st problem I've mention earlier. Now the laptop is sitting in the storage room, untouched for 1 year plus now that she've bought a new Asus laptop. I just wanted to resurrect it from the dead because my dad told me that if it can be fixed he might wanted that laptop. Also, I've done a few diagnose but i suspected either the motherboard or the Harddrive? What are your suggestion guys?

look up a disassembly video for that model lappy, 1s you find 1 take note of the fragile connections.
remove all the screws and use a credit card (or similar thin plastic card) to separate the snap connectors.
1s you have it opened blow the dust out of the fan ducts with compressed air.
re assemble and turn it back on.
if it still doesnt boot. try using the boot menu from the splash screen and disable reboot on error.
write down the $00000000 error and text then search the result on the microsoft knowledgebase.

Buy some thermal Paste, take it apart, clean it (cpu and gpu if it has one) apply thermal paste and that should fix your overheating issues

*UPDATE*
Okay, so i've just send it to the shop and asked the technician to do a clean up,change thermal paste and also do a fresh factory reset.However, the problem still occurs. BSOD, slow boot-up, loud beeping noise when turned on which never had happen before and ofc.The man suggested to me that the laptop has a corrupted internal harddrive within the laptop and needs to be replace into a new one, but yeah that cost more money.So, then i took it back home again. As, i do not want to pay to the man for more than i've already paid for the cleaning service/factory reset. Now, that the technician told me that i have to replace a new harddrive, is that really the problem? ( PS, My sister's laptop model number is Toshiba Satellite L745)

You are wasting money on shops, doing it yourself is way cheaper. You probably do need a new HDD, I suggest an SSD if you want speed. Samsung EVO 850 250GB should be enough.

FYI Hard drives don't last a long time and they are one of the first things to fail right next to Power Supplies.

Oh, man i guess, i just wasted my money on the cleaning service/factory reset XD, now that i found out that not only i have to purchase a new HDD but also a new Windows sofware? Wow, yeah i'm putting this laptop where it belongs, The storage room. It's not worth the money to buy those two things right now. Rather buy a new GPU for my desktop that i'm currently using or some sort.

The OS is linked to the motherboard, not the hard drive, hard drives fail and nobody has to buy a new copy of the OS.
