MSI vs Eluktronics 970 (Or Other Recommendation)

Weight/battery life don't matter. I'll be doing a lot of traveling and want something that will play mainstream games (Witcher 3, BO3) on high+ settings. I don't need an optical drive. I'll be playing with a headset, so speakers are unimportant, but I do care a fair amount about sound quality. I'd like it to last about 2 years. Budget is about $1600.

Which would you recommend?

My ideal would basically be the MSI, but with a 6700k processor. I've read that the MSI can get quite warm; touching a 65C keyboard doesn't sound fun. But it has G-Sync. Is G-Sync really that big a deal?

From what I've read, Eluktronics has better customer service than MSI and their work is done in the US, so it would be nice to patronize them.

If you have something else that would meet my needs as described above, please make another recommendation!

Thank you!

The MSI has a great keyboard. As it is meant to be a gaming laptop, MSI has moved the Windows key to prevent it from accidentally being hit when gamers are using the w,a,s, and d keys.

Thanks for your input, tonyvador.

I would appreciate more feedback, though. Usually Tom's has plenty of people that are eager to share their thoughts.

I've basically ruled out the Eluktronics and would like to buy the MSI; can anyone else speak to it or recommend something similar?

Thanks for the response, starscream. Interesting... I've never heard of Sager. However, they've been pretty poorly reviewed: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Sager As a brand, MSI seems far more reliable.

I basically replicated the MSI through the customization available on xotic's site with the Sager, and it would be about $16 cheaper to buy the Sager, which is definitely not enough to warrant going with it over the MSI. The 980M with 8gb is overkill for a single 1080 screen, which is all I would be using.

I wasn't familiar with xoticpc, though; I'll look through their site.

A fine choice! :D

Ok its a gaming laptop but if you cant win+e or win+d with one hand it cant be a great keyboard. They sould put a game mode key (i got one on my logitech keyboard), when you press it the windows key is disabled (the keyboard enter in game mode) and you just have to press it again to enable the windows key.
And again sorry for my bad english :)

Your english is fine! Fair point on the Windows key (although I have never personally used win+e or win+d). The solution on your Logitech keyboard seems like a better one than moving the Windows key.

One of the reviews on Newegg indicates that you can swap the functionality of the Fn key and the Win key in the BIOS.
