Not sure if this is the right section for this but I have set up my netgear nighthawk x6 router with a 3TB seagate HDD to use like a NAS. I got everything set up and see the HDD showing up but I am not sure how to access it from my samsung smart tv. Do I need an app on the tv itself? I am stuck.

i have'nt really up to date with these whole smart tv issue. but a year back you'll need a media server running to play any media files from a nas.

some tv maybe able to map the nas hdd directly but it'll be messy and disorganized.

media server such as dlna or serviio will be detected automaticaly by the tv most of the time.

I used serviio years ago with my 360, I will try that out and see if it works. My netgear has readyshare and it is supposed to be DLNA. I was hoping I could just use it and access my itunes and movies from it without any extra software.

Turns out I was making it more difficult than it should be. I just went over to my media section of the samsung and scrolled down to the bottom and found a video section. Went to that and then found my files.
