Been looking for a little bit and I'm wondering what is the best gaming laptop for under 500$. I keep looking but I'm not sure what company to buy from and figured you guys could help. I've always been bad at buying laptops because I don't trust a lot of company's from bad experience.

Doesn't need to do hardcore gaming just like league of legends or hearthstone or just fun indi games on steam. Also would like it to be hdmi so I can connect it to my tv. Comes with Windows 10 and has 8gb of ram.

Thank you

They are usually behind most brands in reliability but for your budget you don't have much choice. They will be the cheapest for the speed. But the games you want to play are pretty light-weight and may not need a very good video card. Something like the Toshiba in the first replay may run LOL and Hearthstone with no issues. The thing is, if you want to play any higher end games in the future, you can't upgrade the system to run faster. What you get is what you have. "gaming laptop" really starts to be a real term at about the $800 range, the others are "laptops that can play some games on low settings". A bit like how a VW Bug can be a "moving van" for your friends if you stuff the thing with boxes. It will do the job, but not very well.

Oh I know all that. I don't need really a gaming laptop as I have a gaming desktop already, I'm just looking for a good laptop to travel with that I can use hdmi for my tv and play some games on if I want to. I don't actually play lol honestly I just used it as a reference.

Is 500 really not good for a laptop at all that wants to do even I indi games or hearthstone?

As far as upgrading I'm not sure I care all that much which is why I said 500. I know upgradable laptops are probably 900 at the lowest

If you already have a gaming system then it does not really matter much unless you are planning on using it for games past the lower range, a new i5 or i7 based system is fine, so would an AMD A10 system or one with a 940m video card like the Acer.

The following might help. The article ranks 10 laptop brands, Acer is #8 on the list while Toshiba is #10. These are general rankings based on many different laptops for each brand, not a specific laptop model.

The article also has a graph showing how each of those brands have ranked since 2011. Apple is the most consistent being #1 since 2011. Acer has the next most consistent track record; they always came in at #8 except in 2015 when they dropped to #9. As for Toshiba, they have been on a downward trend. They started at #5 and are now #10, they did improve a bit though, but ultimately ended up being ranked last in 2016.
