Acer 5750G Laptop Screen Blackout with Backlight On

1. If you have an external pc monitor, try connecting to the laptop to see if you get a display there, this will rule complete graphic cards failure.

2. If you external monitor works, navigate to device manager and see if any yellow exclamation marks are present, if there are you will need to download and install the necessary drivers.

3. Another option will be to boot into bios and set your nvidia graphics card as primary display, if the laptop only enables the nvidia gpu when gaming and use intel graphics otherwise there can be conflict. In this case it would be wise to update drivers for both cards.

4. If option fails, try going to control panel and then to power options and enable high performance mode to see if the problem persists.

5. If still issues, i would suggest a hard reset by removing battery and charger and press and hold power button for 30 seconds then reattach charger and battery and boot up.

NB: DO NOT attempt option 6 if you have no experience dismantling a laptop rather seek professional assistance.

7. If still the same, its possible your display is faulty or at least the cable from the monitor to motherboard is faulty, try moving the screen back and forth or press gently at the bottom of the screen to see if the screen comes back on, however this does not bring the screen back to life does not mean the cable is not faulty.

I would like to add if the screen is indeed faulty when confirmed by professional repair specialist if possible keep the backlight of the old screen which may come in handy later on.
