I have a Asus G53SW, I was on the internet looked away and when I looked back it was turned off. I tried to restart it but nothing happens, I tried removing the battery & unplugging and holding down the power button (1 min+) and still nothing, no lights nadda. I tested the AC adapter & it's putting out 19.1v so that's working, I tried testing the batteries volts but slots are to small for my meter. I always had the adapter plugged in & never ran it off the battery (don't know if that matters). This laptop is 4yrs old I upgraded it with a 256SSD, it did everything I needed & it would cost a pretty penny to buy a new one with the same specs, so I'd like to fix this one. I had just bought Windows 7 Professional several days before it died but never got to install it. If I have to take it some where to get fixed any idea what that might/should cost? PLEASE HELP!!

Remove the battery, connect charger only and see if it boots up, if it does i suspect the battery is dead and since its 4 years old any laptop battery will start giving problems.
Tried that already, still nothing. Wonder what the chances of the motherboard dying, especially just sitting there being on? Would it be worth fixing & replacing the motherboard (if that's it), can pickup a guaranteed used motherboard for $90 buck?

1. I'd try removing charger and only power up with charger to test.
2. If step 1 fails, check if ram is seated properly, if they are, remove one stick and try power on, if it works this means that ram and ram slot is working. If it does not it means either the ram or ram slot is possibly faulty, now move that same ram we are testing to the second ignoring the ram that was removed for now. The laptop will either work or not which means there is strong possibility the ram is faulty, the chances both slots failed is slim. At this point remove the present ram and try the other stick that was initially removed, this way we should find if the ram and ram slots are fully functional.

I'll try that and post my findings. Like I said I had the laptop on and was on Yahoo home screen, I looked at the TV for a second and when I looked back at the laptop it was off. No light nothing just as if I had actually turned it off, tried to restart it and nothing no light,sounds nothing completely dead???? Only two times it was ever opened up was I replaced the keyboard because the back light stopped working (even after a new light keyboard it still didn't light up but worked fine) that was done 10+ months before it died. The second time was 6-7 months ago when I upgraded to a SSD, Again everything worked great up until it just died??? I hardly ever moved the laptop as it sits in the same place and serves as my main computer. Would (for whatever reason) if the Ram or SSD came unseated would that cause it not to power on and none of the lights lighting up? Also if for whatever reason the SSD went bad would that cause it not to power on, no lights or anything? I still have the old HHD which was working when I replaced it. BTW I did try powering up with & without the battery installed and still nothing. I appreciate your help, THANKS.

I would try and connect the ssd in a desktop as a slave drive and see if it boots up there fine to rule out any malfunction. Since the ssd is new and should be still under warranty if there is a failure getting a replacement under warranty should be no issue. If its not faulty then motherboard must checked for blown capacitors etc. or eventually complete mb replacement which is a real pain but cheaper than a whole new laptop. I assumed the laptop was carried about since its a laptop thus pointing out to check proper seating of ssd etc.
Its curious why the new keyboard does light up, is there bad connection somewhere that ultimately caused this issue like short circuit ....im not too clued up with soddering/soldering and electronics hardware issues.

I haven't had a chance to try those fixes yet but will this weekend. As I said above the laptop NEVER moved only when I dusted around it. It served as my main computer (desktop like). Do you know if either the RAM or SSD card going bad would prevent it from powering up OR having any lights not lighting up? Again thanks

There's a question I asked a few times, you must have overlooked it, I'll try again.
If Either the RAM or SSD/HDD came loose would that keep it from powering on AND not have any of the lights (there are 3 of them in the upper right corner on this model) light up?
Do you know if this model has a fuse link? If so that may have blown, if it does have one any idea where it is?
If I have to replace this laptop is there one you can recommend? I don't need a top of the line model, what I do need is a reliable 13"-15" that plays DVD & CD's 500gb HDD or 256SSD is plenty. I don't need the best video or sound card basic ones are fine, really don't need a touch screen. I would like it to have Windows 7 professional or be able to install Windows 7 pro as I had bought it for the one that does and never got to install it. And as less dollars as possible. Thanks

Usually the bios should beep in certain ways to alert poor connections of hardware eg, grahics card, ram etc. If ssd was loose in normal circumstances i would expect to see "cant find boot device" displayed on screen.
I cannot provide any info about the fuse link since im useless electronics repair. However you may try your luck at finding the repair schematics online for your laptop.
Finding a new laptop with windows 7 pre-installed will be hard since windows 10 out. I would find a laptop that does not have its cpu soldered/soddered to the motherboard, this way if you have an i3 you can possibly move to an i5 or even i7. However in some cases minor bios update should be required but not always, ram and ssd upgrades are easy on basically any laptop. Very few laptops offer gpu upgrades and is usually thicker machines, i believe alienware offered such laptops however I have not been following this tech closely for a long time so a lot may have changed by now.

Well I disassembled the laptop, took all the RAM,SSD, pulled the motherboard out took the fans out and cleaned them looked to see if anything looked burnt on the MB reassembled it and still nothing. Looking like it's the MB, now I need to decide if I should buy a new one or gamble on getting a used MB from China for $92 bucks. The used MB has a 60 day warranty & supposedly was inspected, only thing it doesn't come with a chip, but can pull the one out of this one. This laptop is either a 2011 or 2012 and has either a 2 or 3rd gen I-7 chip, so don't know what to do. Thanks for your help!!

Personally I'd go with a new laptop, unless the MB from china has a reasonably long warranty, 6 month warranty or less says to me the workmanship is poor.
