Hello,

I have a headset(3,5mm jack) for my PC with a built in in-line analog volume control.

My question is, is it better to set the volume to max on the headset and control it in Windows? Or is it better the other way around? I can't hear any difference in sound, but I would rather control it in Windows so it doesn't wear the analog wheel.

Is this a good idea?

Solution
Makes little difference. I never use the in-line volume control because it's easier for me to press F2/F3 than blindly check the length of the cable to find the wheel and then try to turn it accurately.
