I have an Asus K55A Windows 8 Laptop but now has windows 10. I recently was having some issues with it, and I don't know what to do. It froze and even CTRL-ALT-DEL wouldn't work. So I removed the battery to restart it (Bad idea, I know.) and now it wont charge or turn on. I removed the battery and PSU, held down the power button for 20 seconds, put the battery back in, and plugged the charger back in, and pressed the power button to try and turn it on, Nothing has happened. I not only use this laptop for my homeschooling program, but for my job. I really need this to be fixed, and I don't have a cent to take it in. If worse comes to worse, I can buy a new battery, but even that will take a while to get the money for. Please please help me figure this out!!!

Solution
Try removing the battery, now plug the charger in and see if it powers on that way, i have not newer laptops of recent, but mine will boot up without the battery if the charger is plugged in. If this works open device manager and expand "battery" and uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. Now power off the laptop and replace the battery and power on, it should automatically reinstall the microsoft battery control method hopefully kick start the battery into charging again.

Thank you for your help, I did attempt that method, and it's not even turning the powerlight on. My pc is three years old now, I might just need to buy a new battery.

3 year old battery can be close to failure or already dead, in my experience by 4th year it goes south, so yes replacing the battery is a wise choice at the same time have quick look at the charger to make sure its in good condition with no breaks in the insulation etc.

Hello to all .As it seems this Asus Notebook battery charging problem hasn't been solved...yet ?....but who knows ?.... I dare asking to the author of this thread what solution did he get finally to his Asus product illness that seems to happen more often than it should and to the point that I have the feeling there is an" Asus maker original conception problem with this part of some of their products. I am not an IT specialist , but I think that there is a failure ( bad choice of components, battery charging managing system badly conceived - hardware failure , or " planned obsolescence " , etc.....Anyway, I have , helas, the deep feeling that parts of some Asus PC products have been really badly designed and that Asus is faulty for not beeing transparent in a preventing way on that point. My son is using a 6 year old Dell product for an average of maybe 5 hours/ day....mainly gaming . He didn't get battery problem yet and this Dell is working perfect. My Asus product is a Notebook- transformer T300LA and since it's reached his 2 years anniversary, I am really annoyed with that battery Asus charging problem .This Asus Notebook is really a great product I wouln't feel obliged to get rid of because of such an original and evident building and design technical misconception ( accidental or programmed one , that's the question ) . Too many users get the same Asus laptop notebook battery charging problem. What solution does finally Asus provide to this battery charging recurrent problem and at what cost ? Strange that it happens when the warranty period is reached ....?..... ps: here in Europe, the legal and compulsory warranty duration is 2 years on electrical and electronical goods. Waht about tha warranty period in the US ? Thks for your detailled informations about that battery problem and the rest . Cheers ! Tchotto.
