HP notebook won't boot up and gives me a blinking light

I received a hp probook 4370s with heating problems and a failing hard drive. After disassembling, replacing the hard drive and the thermal paste it booted up but with bad color (too much blue), started installing windows 10 on the blank hard drive. The computer froze while updating windows 10, decided to shut it off and fix the screen problem (so disassembling again and making sure everything is rightly connected).

When I tried to boot up the laptop, the LED next the power supply entry blinked 8 times orange. hp site says it's the battery or power supply failing. Remove battery to try to boot with only AC current, now I get a continues white LED blinking. Read on the hp support forum to do a "hard reboot" (hold down the power button for 15+ seconds with nothing connected). Did that a couple of times, connected AC power, after that the battery, tried to boot again and success! Screen problems resolved, had to start installing windows 10 again. In the middle of the installation the laptop shuts itself off.

I am thinking this is a battery or an adapter problem, probably an adapter problem since I succeeded to start installing windows 10 for a limited time (maybe the battery was low?) and when I only connect the AC adapter it just won't boot, while it should be possible to run this laptop without battery. Decided to see what the output is of my adapter with my multimeter and it gives me 18 V so that should be fine right?

I really have no idea, never had this kind of situation before. Sorry for the long post but if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Hello,

That sounds like overheating problem (power supply also...). Try to cool it with aditional cooling platform and reinstall your windows again.
Try to power it up with another power cable!

p.s. Some parts may be damaged.... run some service tests.
