Laptop screen goes black

The laptop works fine when i turn it on but when i leave it idle for some time the screen turns black and moving the keypad and pressing buttons don't do anything, and also the keyboard backlit is lit up when the screen is black. at the end i have to power it off and turn it on again

the laptop is a dell 7000 7547

Check if your laptop is goes to hangup once it standby, try to run defragmentation, virus scanning, try to run the sfc /scannow using the MS DOS command line. Check also the power management settings using your desktop by right clicking the blank of your desktop.
