Dell D610 hard drive shot. What new drive can I put in it successfully?

Looking to replace a bad hard drive. What one other than a Dell can I use? I am not a computer kind of guy, so be gentle. I assume I will have to reinstall some type of Windows system, as I do not the the original one. The laptop is not used all that often, but when I need it I need it.

Hi,

It's not too bad to give the laptop a small upgrade. You can use a SSD as a replacement for the old HDD and it would make the laptop a bit faster.

And yes you need to install Windows again once you've replaced the SSD into your laptop.
