Hi Guys

Not quite a laptop issue, similar threads have helped me get this far, so I'm hoping someone can give me a pointer to get the rest of the way.

I recently (read: monday) put together a new computer. After much handwringing, re-building and stealing an old ps2 connector keyboard, I was able to get into and navigate the bios menus.

Checking the hardware through that tells me that everything is connected, and getting power.

And yet I can't convince it to recognise the Bootable USB drive as an option. I've fiddled with the settings, enabled/disabled CMS, turned legacy mode on/off to no avail.

As best I can tell the issue is that I'm trying to use USB 3.0 ports, which apparently have issues when trying to use boot drives with them (I've tested them, and they do receive power). Unfortunately this build has neither any USB 2.0 slots, or a cd drive.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ASRock z170 Pro4

Theres a connection for USB 2 on the motherboard for the case, but none in the motherboard itself.
