Hello ive recently replaced a smashed screen on a HP stream 11 pro but now the screen is really really dark and I can only just see the login box on start up I cant figure out what it is im not even sure if uts back lit and or has a inverter, when I started it up with smashed screen it was bright changed screen then dark on new screen then I thought maybe faulty new screen and put the smashed on and now thats dark lol im stumped any help wouls make my day thanks

it's fairly common to have a monitor back light go out. It sounds like that is the case for you. You just need to replace the screen and if you just bought it then I'd say you need to call the place back and say you got a defective one.
I looked up a video on your laptop, and there is only the one cable that connects to your screen, thus if it is just one cable then it HAS to get backlight information from the cable.
Stupid question, have you tried using the backlight hotkey on your keyboard to turn it up?
If the cable is in properly at both ends (the motherboard and the display), then either the cable is damaged or you damaged the motherboard somehow during disassembly (unlikely but not impossible).
