Hello,

I have a lenovo z500 ideapad, it was in windows 10, but trying to debug my problem, I downgraded it until windows 8, making a clean fresh new os start, without improving the problem. I made the diagnosis with otfficial lenovo diagnosis tools, and all hardware ok, but the problem persists. I have re-installed drivers, but still the same problem

it takes several hours to boot, when it does.

After switch on, it stays several hours with black screen before appearing logo of lenovo and charge of windows. When it does. Most of the times, it takes so much before logo appears than overheat automatically switching the computer off. This same problem

The problem is not the fans, the problem is that process from switch on to apparition from logo should take max a couple of minutes.

Any idea how should I solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to load in BIOS and load it's defaults. Press F9 to load it's default then press F10 to save and exit.
- If the same problem will persist try reseating the RAM's, remove all the RAM's for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.
- If the same problem will persist, I would suggest opening the laptop and reset BIOS again by removing the CMOS battery for a second then put it back in.
- And if it will still not work remove the HDD off the laptop then see if the laptop will still shutdown by itself.
- If the laptop will stay on and will boot past faster the Lenovo screen that means it's the HDD that's causing the problem.
