I recently bought a Seagate backup plus slim to store files on it while i did a clean install of windows. Upon plugging it in to take the information off of it, the device isn't recognized and it doesn't show up in disk management or my computer. when i plug it in i hear the sound it usually makes when you plug in an external device. The device also beeps rapidly beeps for about 5 seconds. I see the device in "devices and printers" and the light also turns on on the external hard drive. It shows up in device manger and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. I tried the hard drive on multiple computers and its the same problem on each one. Has anyone encountered this problem before and is there any way to fix it? I would like to get my information off this hard drive...

Solution
if the drive enclosure is id by the computer but not the hard drive itself then either the hard drive has died even tho you hear it spin or part of the drive enclosure circuitry to the drive has crapped out. can void the warranty to open the enclosure to access the drive itself but if drive is dead then you have lost the money spent on the purchase of the external & lost your saved data. other option is take it back to see if they can access your info on it or talk to the enclosure manufacturer to see what they can do.
