Now, ok. I have an HP DM4 3000 with a i7 3940XM processor, carrying a Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor.

I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 screen (2560x1440p resolution) for my laptop.
This is the MAX resolution my GPU actually supports.
Usually the max resolution is achieved only through a DisplayPort cable. But I am planning to use my lcd cable ( for the HP DM4 3000) with the Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1's lcd cable with a 40 to 40 pin zif connector. My question is, is it worth trying to do.

Solution
You will likely void the warranty on both screen and laptop taking it apart like that yourself to hook them up directly, no idea if the screen will work directly on the motherboard connection or if you will get the 1440 resolution from it.
