I have Dell XPS 9550 with 4k screen and 16gb RAM , 500SSD
i7 6700HQ 2.6 with GeFORCE 930M on windows 10 pro

Recently realized while running assassin creed syndicate (on lowest graphics settings) that the laptop gets very hot, i used the Intel extreme tuning utility to track down the issue and found that the pc reaches 100% Power limit throttling after few minutes of running the game.

The temperature reaches 90c+ in few minutes, did a fan test and seems to be working fine but under the load as i mentioned the temperature goes very high, am worry if this can damage the pc as intel website says the max tem for this processor should be around 80c.

i have attached a screenshot from Intel utility, would like to know if this is ok or not ! and if there is a problem as am suspecting, what it can be.

Hi,

Have you tried setting Nvidia as the default GPU?

Here's how: nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2615/~/how-do-i-customize-optimus-profiles-and-settings%3F

If this will still not work, do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot the laptop and see if the same problem will persist after the reboot.
- Last option would be to open the laptop and apply new thermal paste onto the CPU and GPU to help in cooling it down.
