Hi,

Recently, i've got a problem concerning my laptop's usb ports.
Hard to describe but i will do my best.
First, my usb ports worked correctly. About a year now i have this laptop and one of my usb ports suddenly shut down in 1-2 sec when i had my mouse plugged in. Fortunately, i had 2 usb ports left. I've plugged my mouse on another port and it worked for about 2 week or so then it suddenly shut down exactly like the first time. Then, only 1 usb left, i've plugged in and after a month or so, the usb port just broked, physically, done. The 2 other usb ports seems to be still working, physically. No damage and so on.

Now, i'm here, no usb port left. I've searched in the internet then here's the solutions i've tried.

-Restart the PC
-Disable all Usb root hub and usb host controller under the device manager.
-Uninstalling all the usb root hub and usb host controller
-Installing the mouse's driver (Knowing that my Windows can't read my mouse, the installation of the driver couldn't complete because the mouse needed to be plugged)
-TRIED to find a Bios update on HP support, but no results
-Tried to restart the bios by pushing the power button for 30 sec w/out the battery and the AC adapter
-Tried to install all drivers remaining, but non of them concerned the Usb's.
-Refreshing the PC (Keeping the files)

My PC info (if needed):

Model : Hp Pavilion 17 e-184ca
APU : A10 5750M w/ amd radeon 8650G
GPU : amd radeon 8670M
OS : Windows 10 64bits
RAM : 12 GB DDR3

Hi,

Here's a test you can do that may help you identify the problem.
- First is to install the latest BIOS update from HP's support site.
- Here's the link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73448.exe
- Do test it again once the latest BIOS has been installed.
- If the same problem will persist do load the laptop in BIOS and plug in the USB mouse and see if it will still shutdown or not.
- If the laptop will still shutdown while inside BIOS that could mean that it's a hardware problem and a repair is required.
- But if the laptop will not shutdown while in BIOS that could mean that it's just a OS problem and doing a clean install of Windows would solve the problem.

What i mean but shutting down it's not the laptop itself shutting down. Just the USB suddenly stopped working. Thanks for searching the bios update for me and i will try your solution.

:)

The Bios is now installed. (But dammmmn, the fan was running at full speed, is it normal ?) Unfortunately, the issue is still here. Do i really need a factory reset ? I've saw someone having the same problem as i and he needed to configure some sort of power. Does my usbs has insufficient power ?
