hi guys so i have this really strange issue i have a dell inspiron 1564 laptop nd whenever i enter bios mode to install os or anything bios related my laptop shuts down with the sound of click because of it i cant do anything bios related like installing a new os or repairing my windows this only happens when i enter bios mode not when i use windows i tried updating my bios but couldnt because i use my laptop without the battery nd it said i need my laptop battery above 15 to upgrade the bios nd yes when i try it install new os it gives me this "disk read error" i tried rearranging those booting options but nothing helped .

Have you tried reseating the CMOS battery of the laptop? If it will still not work do try reseating the RAM's as well, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.

hi thanks for replying yes ive tried reseating the ram stick but that didnt solve my problem nd i also managed to get to the cmos battery but im now quite sure how to get it off the clip and also would like know that can i replace gpu pad of my laptop with thermal paste
