I recently had problems with my laptop. Windows 8.1 is 'not activated'. I entered the sfc/scannow command in cmd, rebooted the thing and got a black screen. So I brought it somewhere and got Windows reinstalled (it was currently 64bit 8.1 Pro), but when I checked the NVIDIA settings it says that the display isn't connected to it.

1. It was a GeForce 820M, but in the device manager it was 'NVIDIA GF117'. The device is working 'properly'.

2. I found NVIDIA driver installers, but when I ran them it says 'this NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows' and 'the graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware'.

3. There are 4 folders in the installer package. a) 5x64 > '198.0' and '307.83' b) 5x86 > '198.01' and '334.35' c) NTx64 > '335.23' d) NTx86 '335.23'

(I don't know what these meant, I'm sorry.)

4. I'm using an ASUS A455L Notebook on Intel Core i5-5200U (@2.20 GHz), x64-based PC, DirectX 9, Intel HD Graphics 5500 and NVIDIA GeForce 820M.

I don't really understand about these things, so please bear with me. Any help would be appreciated.
