How bad is glossy screen on laptop?

I think about buying the Dell xps 15 9550 with the 4k glossy display.
Now, I never used any laptop with glossy display before and I want to know if the display glare is very noticeable when the display is on or not so noticeable.

Phone and laptop screens are very different, you don't use them in the same way at all. How often do you have the laptop in your palm and are looking down at it?

Find a friend that has a glossy laptop screen or go to a store that has them on display and see if you are OK with how it looks. Almost no-one likes glossy screens aside form teenage girls that I noticed from who picks what systems.

personally i hate glossy screens it is noticeable and can make the screen hard to read. i would avoid it on a laptop as you will have glare coming from many different places and it moving across the screen as the laptop moves

Yep definitely going to see a lot of glare, the upside to glossy/glass over matte is that the colors pop a bit more and the blacks are deeper. It's not a deal breaker, I use mac thunderbolt displays (glass) and at first the glare is super noticeable but over time you learn to ignore it.

If your someone that likes to work outside or near a window you may want to reconsider.

Does the glossy screen that is on the dell xps 15 is similar to the glossy screen that is on the galaxy s4? because I hardly notice any glare from it
