Which is better as a bedside daily driver (gift)

Looking to get something for my mom, because the labtop she's using costed 100 dollars 7 years ago. figured anything I get is basically an upgrade at this point, But I want the most bang for my buck. This product would mostly be used for video programs like youtube and sling, at the most 1080p viewing, (if even capable of that, I'm aware these are "mobile" pcs.

And the second, much prettier option in terms of aestetics, The sexy screen, the 4 gb of ram, and the 320gb hdd make me want to jump on this, but I'm opting into a dual core performance at 1.8ghz instead of a quad core 1.3ghz.

The CPU in the Viotek is superior to the one in the MSI. That said, the Viotek has no stand, it just kinda lays flat at an angle. Would probably need to be held upright if lying in bed. At least the MSI has a kickstand to hold it up on a nightstand, and a larger, easier to see screen. Although I didn't see what resolution the MSI display is in the ad copy. Maybe I missed it.

The one you picked will probably only play 720p. 1080p will probably be choppy. Anyone else know more about the Atom D525? Plus, the title says it is a touchscreen, but the specs below says 'non-touchscreen' so I have no clue...

720p should be just fine, Most things on sling are defaulted to the default res of the screen which would be 1366x768. and youtubes auto will probably set most things to 480p. But yeah, I really don't know a whole lot on the d525

Then it should be good for her. But it's not a laptop pc... so it must be plugged in, and if it is unplugged accidentally it will turn off.

Yup, I'm aware of that, Its only meant as something that will sit on a nightstand for late night viewing of tv shows or movies, basicially a media center. So which one would you recommend out of the choices? The quad core atom 1/3 ghz 2gb 32gb hdd or the dual core atom 1.8ghz 4gb 320gb hdd

If it was my mom I'd get the 18.5" dual core one because I would think the size of the screen alone is so much better for watching TV. If she is upgrading from a 7 year old laptop it will all be so much better.

If she has an actual TV in her bedroom and is somewhat tech savvy I'd get the Viotek.

Thanks for all of your replies on the subject. I think I am going to end up going with the MSI. I could always get her a secondary display for the viotek, But when it comes down to it, I think that 2gb of ram will bottleneck it from doing anything other than a media server, And no telling what she will end up doing. 2gb of ram is hardly enough to run google chrome now days and the dual core can be OC'd to 2.1ghz safely with the default cooler in the all in one. If the all in one is anything like upgrading a labtop, I won't have much issue upgrading any faulty components overtime anyhow. As for the viotek, That form factor seems to follow a close suit to that of a tablet, and those things are alot more hardware restrictive than the everyday labtop or desktop mobos.
