So I'm looking to replace an ancient laptop--and two desktops--with one simple laptop solution that has docking station support for dual monitors. I'm leaning toward a Dell Precision M7510, but am stuck on which processor to choose... The Intel® Core™ i7-6920HQ (Quad Core 2.90GHz, 3.80GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, w/Intel HD Graphics 530) or the Intel® Xeon® E3-1535M v5 (Quad Core 2.90GHz, 3.80GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, w/Intel HD Graphics P530).
I can get 64gb of RAM with the i7, or up to 32gb of ECC RAM with the Xeon.
I like a stable system.
Would appreciate any thoughts/advice on how to proceed. These machines are terribly expensive and I'm wondering if $550 spent at WalMart would but something good enough to get me into just one machine within my household. They have a laptop for $550 with i7 and 12gb of RAM. Far away better than what I currently have as a laptop, but not as snazzy as my two homebuilt desktops (identical i7s with 16gb of RAM.)
