Andrew Toba, if you are going to use a computer whether windows, ios, chrome or Linux based then you will need an anti-virus & anti- spyware\malware program. try the free versions for a while & if you like it\them then buy it\them. just remember that no program whether free or paid will find or get rid of an infection 100% of the time, some will slip thru.

You should install professional anti virus: (not "free" programs from the internet.)
Do not install any programs such as "spybot." Delete ALL of this "free" stuff.

Loading "free" programs:
80% of these "free" programs are MALWARE.

Which is HOW your computer became infected, in the first place. (you loaded "free" software, and became infected from it)

FYI: Windows needs NO "free programs" to operate properly.
Avoid these, always.
If you have installed them, delete them all now.

That's the best advice you will ever get about security.
Use pro anti virus, use only ONE (all-in-one) security program.
DO NOT load multiple security programs - they conflict with each other.

I've had good luck with the free version of AVG. It's evolved to give popups, but it's a good antivirus program nonetheless. I also use the free MalwareBytes which doesn't conflict with antivirus programs. You can safely download both from ninite.com.

Good luck.
