Okay so about 2 or 3 years ago I bought myself an HP Pavillion. Loved it. Of course, I did not get a warranty because I am an idiot lol. A year down the line I started to have issues with it booting up. My GF and I tried all sorts of things online to try. Including doing the Automatic Repair option. At which point it would restart - go to the HP screen with the wheel, and just sit there... forever.

I have been using a friends laptop for the past year and I really want to get back to my HP. Decided to look online to see what else I could do. I found THIS video/document: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629

I downloaded the BIOS update for my specific computer to a USB drive, went through all the actions of putting it on the flash drive, choosing my correct BIOS system board ID, etc. It went through all the motions, said it completed, my computer would restart and not to fiddle with anything while it was doing its thing - and I listened. But.... I am still not able to boot. A few short moments ago it went from the HP load screen (after 30 min) to a blue screen with a sad face that blinked for a millisecond. Said something about "your PC ran into a problem.." and then I didn't get to read the rest. It then went BACK to the HP load screen, said it was Preparing Automatic Repair, and then... blank screen.

Be honest - is there anything I can do to fix this? I am NOT super techy when it comes to this stuff. I can give you as much info as I can if you tell me how to find the info. But, really, honestly, is this computer just dead and I should give up?

BTW the reason I did the BIOS update was because my capslock was doing the 2 blinks. I thought I figured out the problem, but apparently it goes much deeper. I just have no idea what to do next. Anyone's help would be appreciated, whether you help me figure it out, or just tell me to take a hammer to it because its broke lol.

HP Pavillion 17-e074nr
Running Windows 8.1

BTW! When I did the BIOS and it said it completed, a little blue box came up that said boot block or block boot whatever, loaded to 100% and then.... nothing.

Solution
LED near CAPS LOCK blinking twice = BIOS Corruption.

Try removing the CMOS battery for a couple of minutes, then put it back (take note of which way up the CMOS battery is before you remove it so you know which way up it needs to be when you put it back).

Make sure you remove/replace CMOS battery with the laptop turned off and A/C adapter disconnected.
