Upgrade laptop memory

Hi, I bought a PNY DDR3/8GB 1600MHz/1.35V Ram for my Dell inspiration 15 5000 series laptop. But beeping sound after installing and laptop did not boot.Please what should I do?

Hi,

There are only 2 possible answer why it's not booting up and beeping. 1 is the RAM is not compatible with the laptop and 2 the RAM's are just loose. Please do try reseating the RAM's, remove all RAM's off the laptop for a second then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly. If it will still not work do swap the place of those RAM's then try it again. Lastly, do install the original RAM's and see if it will boot up or not and if it will boot up that means the RAM that you installed are not compatible.

How many times did it beep?
Try re-seating the memory.

Two times beep. I already did re-seating.Laptop did not boot

Two beep means the RAM is not detected.
Try 1 stick at a time.
If else fails either the RAM is not compatible or something wrong with your motherboard.
Or you can try updating your BIOS maybe DELL have some fixes for this kind of issues.
