I've got a Samsung np350v5c-s06au which i can't get to turn on.

I'm aware that the lcd is not working which I am going to replace provided I can get it to turn on. I have the laptop plugged directly into the wall with the charging cable, the green light is lit up on the charger box, and a power supply light turns on on front of the laptop when I plug the cord in. I then press the power button and a blue power light turns on for about 5 seconds but then nothing happens. No noise starts in the machine, fan is not spinning and no display comes up at all (plugged via HDMI into my tv).

Anyone got any troubleshooting I should try? I would try a new charger but they cost around $40 for a genuine Samsung one and the fact that the light comes on when i plug it in sort of makes me think it is not the issue.

Thanks in advance for any help :) cheers.

take it apart carefully & put the screws into lunch bags so not to loose them. look to see if there are any popcan shaped capacitors on the motherboard usually on topside but sometimes bottomside. try powering up the board with the screen attached plus a stick of ram. do not need any drives attached nor a keyboard just the power button.
Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help, you can just skip those steps that you've done already but I would suggest doing all the steps.
Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that I suggested to others that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again.
- If this will not work, do test the AC adapter if it's working properly. Remove the battery and power the laptop with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will boot up or not. do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will work or not.
- Proceed with reseating the RAM's if trying a different AC adapter will not work, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.
- If it will still not work, connect an external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it. If there's a display on the external monitor that could mean that the problem is the built in display.
- But if there's still no display on the external monitor that means the problem lies in the motherboard.

Ok tried all of the above with no luck. The only thing i couldn't try was using a different AC adapter as I currently don't have access to one and I would rather avoid paying the money for a new one without knowing that it is the problem.

Is there anything else I can try? Or a way to determine if the problem lies within the motherboard?

Ok that's good I suppose haha. Is there anything else I can test or replace? I don't mind having to pull it apart as I am going to pull it apart to fix the the screen in any case.

Mikaile676 I'm having this exact same issue with my mates laptop right now. I just disassembled and found no issues on the board. Last thing to do was reset the CMOS battery because it seems like the computer can't load the BIOS/Post screen, but I found the CMOS battery is soldered on the board with protective plastic sheet over it. I'm going to get the multi meter out and see if its got any charge left in it, most likely not as I haven't used my Laptop in awhile.

But in your case a good indicator for a failed CMOS battery would be; Did the date and time change and would you have to set your date/time every time you turned on the computer?
