Hi
i have a sony vaio windows 7 core i3 etc.
Anyway, it occasionally overheats and i know when it shuts down due to overheating because it goes blank for 2-3 seconds then shuts down.
However, in perhaps the last week, after about 5-10 minutes of use, it shuts down SUDDENLY and i believe it isnt due to overheating because there isnt that 2-3 second delay. also i went to event viewer and found this. This occured every time the laptop shuts down:
The description for Event ID 2 from source ESRV_SVC cannot be found'
Any help?
its driving me crazy

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to open the laptop and remove the dust off the fans and apply new thermal paste on the CPU to help in cooling it down.
- Next to try is to remove the battery off the laptop then power it on with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will still overheat or automatically shut down.
- Also if you have a cooling pad do use it with your laptop and see if it will make any difference with the temperature of the laptop.
- Do also make sure that your laptop has the latest updates and BIOS version.
- If all these will not work do reinstall Windows 7 as well.
- And finally if all these will not work and if the laptop still under the factory warranty, do contact Sony for a repair.
