Title explains it. I would like to edit in Resolve, export to AE and export that back in Resolve for Color Grading

Thanks in Advance!

Solution
That's right. If possible, render/export your Resolve file as AVI, then before continue to editing in After Effects, transcode that AVI to DNxHD. This is an intermediate codec, so no noticeable quality loss, smaller file size, and easier to edit with.

MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/

DNxHD: http://www.videohelp.com/software/Avid-DNxHD

Now. I don't know what the format you're working with is. But, look at this first:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DNxHD_codec_resolutions

The reason for that, is because you need a bitrate that suits you. If you have lots of moving objects, then a higher bitrate may be something that you want. The bitrate is in megabit, and follows the DNxHD in each one, so DNxHD 36 = 36 megabit...

Should I just render it in AVI and then put that in AE or Resolve, or is there any easier way. How do i tell whether it is DNxHD or not?

Bitrates can't be compared when different codecs/specs are involved, so it's a process you have to experiment with.

If I was unclear, feel free to ask! :)

Do i need that MPeg Streamclip if I have other programs like Handbrake and Media Encoder. Also what is the best Video Codec to export with when I am done and my Video is finished?

Ok so I should export from Resolve in AVI, then convert that into DNxHD with MPEG Streamclip, then bring that into AE. Then export that to AVI and encode to DNxHD. Then Bring that into Resolve and when I'm done, Export to H.264 and Quicktime?

Is quicktime what I should use, also when I export to AVI, which codec should I use?

AVI files are also ridicoulosly large so when I'm done converting them to DnxHD should I just delete them.
last question, do DNxHD files have acceptable file sizes? because when I export to AVI, it made my 2 minute video into 14GB

I use BMP in a AVI container.

Now here's what's important to remember when it comes to compression. It's about what you can live with in terms of quality, if you can barely notice the difference between uncompressed, and slightly compressed, and the file size is cut in half, then use that everytime. Sometimes you have to compromise, but it takes a lot of experimenting.

Did that answer your question?

All the best!

I think I understand, is the process that I mentioned in the previous comment correct?

EDIT: one more question(Sorry if I'm asking a lot but I'm new to this sort of stuff). In Resolve when I go to export, there is no option for BMP for AVI? only 3 YUV options and Uncompressed RGB 10 Bit
