ok, i have seen a few posts about this but none f them fix the issue. mines has windows 10, and when i connect the headset the "dell audio" option pop up asking what kind of device, there is a list and i select the one with headset(with microphine) one, still i go to recording device and the headset does not show up, even scanning for devices doesn't work.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by uninstalling/reinstalling the Sound card driver.
- Open Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Reboot the laptop once uninstalled and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
- After the reboot do check Recording Devices again and see if the Microphone that's connects will be listed.
- If it's listed, right click on it and select Set Defaults then click Apply and OK.
- Do test it again and see if the same problem will persist or not.
- If your laptop has only 1 3.5mm port and your headphone uses 2 3.5mm cable that means you're going to need a splitter inorder to make it work with your laptop.
