I replaced my acer´s old battery for a new one. Followed the discharge cycle as recomended by the maker. so I put it in and turned my laptop on until the battery capacity went down to 2% and the laptop shot down automatically. (by the way the battery´s capacity when I put it on was about 72%) until that everything was perfect. so when the laptop shut down, I connected the original A.C. adapter charger, and the battery indicator led turned on. so I left it connected overnight. My surprise was that when I got up the next morning, the battery charging indicator led was blinking, so I turned tha laptop on to see the battery status, and it indicated that the battery was charged only to 39%. also sayed that it was connected but not charging. I disconnected and Reconnected the A.C. adapter and it started charging but it stoped charging after it got to about 73%. some have sugested to flash my computer Bios (but I´m reluctant to do it, becaus it is the only problem I have with my computer.) What else can I do.?

Hi,

Please do test the AC adapter as well if it's supplying enough voltage to your laptop to power it on and charge it.
- Using a multi tester, test if the charger is still supplying enough voltage to power/charge the laptop.
- Another test would be to remove the battery off the laptop the connect it directly to the laptop and see if it will boot up with just the AC adapter connected.
- Next is to try a different Ac adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will charge the battery normally all the way to 100%.
- If the battery will charge up to 100% using a different AC adapter that means you'll need to replace yours with a new one.
- Another step you can also do is to do a battery calibration once the battery charged up to 100%.
- Here's how to do the battery calibration: http://www.tomsguide.com/faq/id-2342991/calibrate-battery-windows-laptops.html

Thanks for the advice! I already tested the original charger, and it measures 19.3 Volts. but the problem remains when I connect the charger to the laptop. I´m considering on buying an external battery charger to see if I can get it to charge the battery instead of charging through the laptop and original A.C. adapter. I also wonder if changing the old battery which was rated at 11V. 4000mAh. for the new one which is rated 11V. 5200 mAh, had something to do with the problem.
