Hello guys,
i have a dell inspiron 3537
with amd radeon 8670m (which is not usable now i get BSOD like thread stuck in device driver and all BSOD related to gpu first it semmed to be driver problem now its a hardware problem)
i took my laptop to the showroom from where i buied he said its a bad gpu chip
which he can unsolder and solder a new gpu chip he has some spare AMD 8670m AMD Radeon HD 8850M / 8870m

is it possible to do tht cuz he is asking 70$ for his work and 30$ for spare chip total it will cost about 85$ including all discounts and stuff

should i go for it or he is fooling me PLEASE HELP ASAp
 
Hi,

Have you tried doing a clean install of the graphics card driver with your laptop before you concluded that it's a hardware problem already? Here's how:
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the AMD graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to AMD.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot, do test the laptop again and see if the same problem will persist.

If doing a clean install will not work that means it's the GPU that has the problem. Normally, what technician do if it's a problem with the GPU is they reflow it meaning they heat the motherboard that has the GPU and that normally fix the problem. But in your case were the tech can replace the GPU itself isn't bad as well but as I checked online for a replacement motherboard you can get a new genuine board for $85.

bro, thanks for the reply but the motherboard's link you gave is not my model my laptops model is dell inspiron 15r 3537 which cost around 160-80$ (13,400rs as i am a indian)
still guys i need a solution can a gpu be unsoldered and resoldered please reply ASAP
