I am buying a laptop to replace my old desktop since I am moving and will be needing something more compact and mobile.

Budget: 450£ (630$) max, but preferably under 400£ (560$)

Main purpose: general use, watching movies and some light gaming

Mostly interested what I need to look for in components, but specific laptop suggestions are also welcome.

I would surely say intel i3 6th or 5th gen, 4gb or 6gb or 8 gb ram, hard drive according to your use, don't need graphic card in case you are not looking for heavy gaming. I think the integrated 6th gen i3 can support gta v at low setting. I can say some models but not sure if that will be available there.
1)HP 15-ac122tu
2)HP 15-AC098TU
3)HP 15-AC047TU
4)Lenovo U41-70 80JV007DIN

I would prefer HP 350 G1 or G2, it's pretty good for movies and great for light gaming! I watch movies in 1080p, and play PAYDAY 2, CoD : Black Ops, Minecraft, Counter Strike : Global Offensive and many other games in 30-60FPS, PLUS if you are a game dev this is the laptop for you! (well not any games, indies are created using low-end PCs)

The laptop's specs are pretty good!

TDHBP i have the laptop of same specs and its good for light gaming but if you are looking for to run graphic utilizing softwares, go for 4th gen with additional graphics or 5th gen.
