Laptop not detecting AMD GPU after Windows 10 Update and significant FPS drops

So first off, I updated to Windows 10 yesterday, opened NFS:MW2012 and it felt like a slide show(MASSIVE FPS DROP), it used to be over 50 FPS before the upgrade, and then I tried searching it online, and tried updating the Drivers, installed the AMD Auto-Driver Update utility which did not detect my AMD GPU and in the Device Manager, only the Intel Graphics are mentioned as Display adapters. And the FPS drops are super irritating. My Laptop specs:-

Lenovo G50-80 Laptop:-
AMD R5 M230 2GB.
Intel Core i5 5200U(2.2 Ghz)
4GB RAM
1TB HDD.

Any help would be much appreciated. And I don't know much about PCs btw. =(

I tried doing so too, but the AMD driver doesn't seem to recognise my GPU, and after the Driver installation, the Device Manager states a AMD Radeon HD 8500M as a GPU which isn't associated to my laptop. PS:- I installed the right driver for my GPU.

Yep, the latest one off the AMD site. And I had another question, did your rolling back to Windows 8.1 reinstate the previous settings, I mean the Drivers and stuff?

When you updated to Windows 10 did you do a clean install of the operating system? When updating from Windows 7 or 8(.1) to Windows 10 by simply running Windows Update a lot of file and driver fragments from the previous operating system carry over to Windows 10 and can and will cause a wide range of performance issues.

The easiest way to do a clean install is to download the media creation tool from Microsoft:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
follow the instructions and when prompted be sure to select to remove everything from your hard drive - ie a true clean install. You will of course have to back up all of your important files, pictures, ect as you will loose everything when doing a clean install, however you will achieve a truly stable optimized system.

Windows 10 when actually installed properly is a very good operating system. I really liked Windows 7 however Windows 10 is just as good, and has native support for DX 12. Neither Windows 7 or Windows 8(.1) has support for DX 12, only Windows 10 has DX 12 support. If you want to be able to play upcoming games with the best setting possible you will need to be running Windows 10 with DX 12 support.

Ah, I see your point, but I already installed Windows 10, so should I rollback(to 8.1) and perform a clean install(Of Windows 10) and will the Driver 'Errors' still persist? And will I lose my games and stuff?

Doing a clean install of Windows 8.1 is going to be counter productive. At this point your best path forward is going to be a clean install of the OS, you would have to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 or a clean install of Windows 10, either way you will loose all data that you don't have backed up. If possible back up all your important data and do a clean install of Windows 10 using the method I outlined above.

If you do a clean install of Windows 8.1 you are going to be doing another clean install when you upgrade to Windows 10 in the near future so you can play DX 12 games. DX 12 is not supported on Windows 8.1 and in the near future all the AAA title games will be using the DX 12 API. There is little sense in doing a clean install of Windows 8.1 only to have to go thorough all the hassle in under a years time to do another clean install of Windows 10 when you can just do a clean install of Windows 10 now and be done with it.

There is no need to roll back to 8.1 at all, just download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft that I linked above and follow the instructions to do a clean install of Windows 10. Install the creation tool to a flash drive, boot from the flash drive and choose to do a clean install (erase everything) when prompted. When the creation tool is complete you will have a clean install of Windows 10 and shouldn't have any more issues.

?? Not sure what you mean by that. Windows 8.1 and 10 will both be fine with either a HDD or SSD. I'm running Windows 10 right now on 4 family computers, mine is the only one with an SSD, all the rest have HHDs. My personal desktop has an SSD, my son's desktop has a HHD and my wife's and my laptops both have HHDs. They are all running Windows 10 without issue.
