How much memory Intel HD 5500 occupies? please help me..

I am looking for a laptop which has its usage for mechanical engineer softwares like Creo and CATIA? Will Intel HD 5500 suits me? Or, suggest me few graphic cards...

Intel HD graphics can access up to 1.7GB of shared memory.

However, that depends on how much physical memory is installed and how much is used by Windows itself and all the other programs that you may be using. For example, if you have 8GB of RAM installed, but Windows needs to use 1.5GB and you have programs opened that uses 5GB of RAM, then technically speaking the Intel HD 5500 will only have 1.5GB of RAM that it can use.

Additionally, the laptop's BIOS may also limit the amount of RAM available to the Intel HD graphics core. If the manufacturer decides to limit the amount of RAM available to the Intel HD graphics core to something like 1GB, then no matter how much physical RAM is installed, the Intel HD will never use more than 1GB of RAM.
