So i have a Dell Inspiron 7447 (i5-4210H 2.9-3.5, GTX 850M, 4GB RAM)

I've seen some posts saying that removing the battery is better, because it will save battery life, my gaming performance will be better, and it is recommended to use a laptop without batteries.

I have some questions tho;

1. How do you do this? There's not a lot of tutorials on youtube.
2. Is this safe? Some say when i plug my battery back it'll say "battery permanently broken" or smthn.
3. Will this really improve gaming performance? I noticed that when i play games without charging the laptop, i get about 190+ FPS on Counterstrike, and 120-160 while charging.

Thanks peeps!

Removing the battery and running your system with only the AC adapter connected will not damage your battery. You get a higher framerate because your system runs cooler when the battery is not installed (charging and generating heat).

Game on!

1..depends on the model of laptop but theres usually 2 little tabs with a padlock icon on the bottom to pull

2..yes its perfectly safe used to do it all the time and no battery broken messages etc

3..if you go to power plans and set while on mains power to max performance it should help

Thanks for the reply, but how do i do it? Just keep the charger plugged in and remove the battery? And vice versa when i wanna put it back on?

Yes. That is it.

With the system powered down, remove the battery. Plug in the AC adapter and press the power button.

To re-install the battery, power down, remove the AC adapter, install the battery. Reconnect the AC adapter as desired.

Thanks for the information in this thread. The battery on my Dell Inspiron laptop went bad, and the guy on the Dell website tech support chat line told me it was NOT recommended to operate the computer without a battery installed. I suspected that they just wanted to sell me one of their outrageously priced batteries.
