When I turn on the notebook I can see the acer logo for 1 sec, then the screen goes black.
Work perfectly with external monitor.
If I press with the finger the point that make the notebook go standby closing it, I can see correctly just for 1 sec the screen "windows is going standby" then black again..
Rarely when I turn on the monitor work until windows is loaded and then go black after a while, but mostly go black immediatly after the acer logo screen.
Could depend from the inverter or from the LCD? Should I give a try changing one of these or is only a waste of money/time?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion!

Hi,

Before you replace the LCD or anything inside the laptop, do a clean install of the graphics card driver first.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the AMD graphics driver.
- Check Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to AMD.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot, do test the laptop and see if the same problem will persist or not.

Is an old Radeon X700 and I wasn't able to find the series on that site. Is the same if I pick up the driver from acer site looking for Travelmate 8100? If yes I just tried and still have the same problem. Tried also Update driver from device manager, but nothing.. If I go into screen options with external monitor and try to set laptop monitor as primary, for 1 sec I can see a strange colored box on the screen, then black again. But when powering on the pc and I can see for 1 sec the acer logo the screen is perfect, I mean about the color of the image..
I see that the lcd is quite expensive, around 70 €, but the inverter is 13 €, so I think I'm going to try it, if there is at least a chanse that it's the problem..
